The Ashburn, VA based teen female vocal group, By
Chanz, will compete in the Sterling Community Center's Battle of the Bands
contest on Friday June 29th, 2001 between 7;00-10:00 PM.
(By Chanz will probably
perform around 9:00 PM). A total of
8 bands will compete for prizes including the opportunity to perform at the
Sterling Festival in the fall of 2001. The
Sterling Community Center is located at 120 Enterprise Street in Sterling, VA.
The cost of admission is only $3.00.
That's only about 38 cents per band!
During the competition, By Chanz will perform three original songs written by members of the
vocal group. Two of the songs, What,
What Did I Say? and Beat
of Your Heart, were recently recorded at 21st Street Studios in Northern
Virginia. The third song, I
Can't Breathe, was recently recorded at Pearl Studios in Columbia, MD.
By Chanz just returned from
performing a showcase at the Philadelphia Music Conference on June 14th for
representatives from the recording industry including Jive Music, EPIC/Sony, and
Columbia Records. They met Billy
Kahn, who discovered Britney Spears, and were invited to write a song for a new
artist just signed to Atlantic Records. They
gave their demo CD to several record company representatives who requested it,
and to an artist that works with R. Kelly.
