Franklin Park hosts Gwyneth Fair, Teen Girl Musicfest
LMG
Management and Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS)
are jointly sponsoring Gwyneth Fair…Lilith’s Little Sister, a day of
music dedicated to teen and pre-teen girls and young women on July 27, 2002 from
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Franklin Park in Purcelliville, VA.
The musicfest is modeled after the
very successful Liltih Fair organized by singer-songwriter Sarah
Machlachan, except that all the performers will be teenaged girls.
The
purpose of Gwyneth Fair is to:
·
Provide
an opportunity for teen female bands, vocal groups and singer-songwriters to
perform at a public venue for their peers, friends and relatives
·
Exhibit
and promote female self-confidence (girl power)
·
Strengthen
the self-image of teen and pre-teen girls and young women throughout the
Virginia, Maryland, and DC Metro areas
Gwyneth
Fair will feature original songs and dynamic musical performances by such teen
female bands, vocal groups, and singer-songwriters as:
Winners in the TEEN PEOPLE
Magazine "Five Live Search" contest which was searching for the best
teen bands in the country, the WWZZ Z104 "Local Band Challenge," the
HOT 99.5 “Mark Anthony’s Big Break” talent contest, and who won silver and
gold awards in the “hip-hop” and “pop” categories respectively in the
18th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest sponsored by the Songwriters Association
of Washington (SAW). The groups
lead singer was a winner in the WITH HOT 99.5 “Mark Anthony’s Big Break”
talent contest in April.
A teen R&B vocal group who
mix pop, hip-hop, and music. They
opened for B2K recently at the Lincoln Theatre and are under development by
Xposure Entertainment which recently had another of their female vocal groups,
Forbidden, signed to Atlantic Records.
An all-teen-girl rock n’ roll band who won the Anne Arundel County "Battle of the Bands" contest against several all-guy bands. They play their own instruments and write their own songs. These girls rock!
A singer-songwriter who fused
folk and jazz, was nominated by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) for
one of their annual WAMMIE awards, and who has recorded a full-length CD of
original songs entitled Creation.
A gifted teen singer who has
performed for the Pope and sung at the White House.
She is now working on demo for several major record labels with producer,
Ernesto Phillips who discovered Toni Braxton, the Braxton Sisters, and Kimberly
Scott and secured major record label deals for them with Arista, Atlantic, and
Columbia Records respectively.
Gwyneth Fair will also feature Columbia, MD psychologist and social worker, Marjorie
Schlesinger, who often speaks to teen girls on topics such as self-esteem,
managing stress and resolving family problems.
She will deliver a positive message about the power of a positive
self-image and positive self-esteem among teen girls.
